In partnership with Radboud University and Anchoring Innovation (Netherlands), Newcastle University (UK), and St. Andrews University (UK), Prof. Augoustakis represented the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign co-organizing an international conference in Rome “The Damned Despot: Rethinking Domitian and the Flavian World” as closing event of the exhibition at the Capitoline Museums in Rome with the theme “Domiziano Imperatore. Odio e amore” which closes on January 29, 2023 and has been open since last summer. This event brings to close a two-year cycle of events (2021-2023) that began with an exhibition at the Rijksmuseum Van Oudheden in Leiden (Netherlands) and an accompanying conference there in 2022. At the Rome conference, there were over 30 presentations and keynote addresses on various aspects of the Flavian period (69-96 CE) and from Universities around the world (USA, UK, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Germany, Portugal, South Korea). The event took place at the British School (BSR) and the Royal Netherlands Institute (KNIR) in Rome.
